Hour of Slack #1272 -- XXX-Rated Girls-Only Sex Advice Special

Thu, 2010/09/02 - 12:51pm

Boy howdy, do we have something DIFFERENT this time. At the 13X-Day Drill, there suddenly evolved an  All-UberFemme Live Hour of Slack Panel. Yes, it is an Hour of Slack featuring ONLY female voices. Well, for the first couple of minutes you'll hear the shift from all-testosterone voices to all-sexy, naughty girl voices. The main Connietite panelists were: Rev. Enshrina (Ministry of Slack), Priestess Pisces, Rev. Pockets (also Ministry of Slack), Princess Wei 'R.' Doe, and Popess Pantiara Evokavitch. And Pisces sings of Connie at the end, with the band 6-Fisted Tales of Connie. ((Editor's Note: The broadcast radio version of this show required more 'bleeping' of profanity than has any other episode in the history of the Hour of Slack.))

Hour of Slack 1271 - Ground Zero Mostel, Live 8/22/10

Wed, 2010/08/25 - 4:08pm

A live broadcast from WCSB Cleveland in which we dare to tackle the misconstrusions about what happens when "Bob" is "that way," "Down there." The first 20 minutes are brand new collages and songs by Fernandinande LeMur, Rev. Hazel of the Windmills, SlanderBob, The Rudy Schwartz Project, Rev. Norel Pref and Morgan Gutendag. Then (with background music by The Rudy Schwartz Project, The Psycho Skeletons and The Large) Princess Wei R. Doe, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Ivan Stang cover the key issues of our age, such as racism, class division and the controversey over the upcoming NYC devival being held near Ground Zero in a temporary SubGenius Mosque. The show ended with Wei dancing topless around a big bonfire built by her fans in the station parking lot. This was appropriate because August 22 was Go Topless Day.

Hour of Slack #1270 - SubGenius Old Pro Show - Dr. Hal, Dave, Susie, Philo, Stang

Fri, 2010/08/20 - 2:44pm

13X-Day Drill, July 3, Conspiracy Year 2010 - we recorded an Hour of Slack show on stage before a live audience with Dr. Hal, Rev. Susie the Floozie, Dr. Philo Drummond, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Rev. Ivan Stang. Except for Puzzling Evidence, these are the SubGenii to blame for the three hoary SubGenius radio shows that have been on the air for decades -- up to three decades, in fact. That show is intercut with new collages by Rev. Heart Ignition, sermons from 13 X-Day by Rev. D. Lister and Rev. Richard Skull, and a jam/song by 6 Fisted Tails of Connie (Philo, Pisces, Rev. Angry Larry, Rev. Suds Pshaw, Rev. Phil, Rev. Bunny Day on this particular line-up). Upcoming events are also predicted - The NYC Devival (Oct. 9) and the DEVOtional (Aug. 28).

Hour of Slack #1269 - DRUGS theme, plus Best Live Rants, Music from 13X-Day

Sat, 2010/08/14 - 5:53pm

This episode assembled itself from various dope-related contributions by our best collagiasts (including LeMur, The Large and the newly-returned Heart Ignition), mixed with semi-appropriate cuts from the 13 X-Day live events: music, rants, and other mischief. It is a joyous celebration indeed. Munky Hyv, Rev. Jannus, Phat ManDee (three songs!), Tommy Amoeba, Jere Faison and Rev. Crazy Jim Jones are represented. We also hear, despite the taint of slight popularity, somewhat-commercialy-recorded music by DEVO and Jonathan Coulton.

Hour of Slack #1268 - 13X-Day Pt. 2 - QUESTIONS! - Ask Dr. Hal

Wed, 2010/08/04 - 6:30pm

We are chronologically walking ourselves through the recordings from the 13X-Day Drill, along with the strange clips and mixes that are submitted to subgenius.com from hermetic ascended secret masters through so many various avenues. This epsode focuses on the first of the Ask Dr. Hal oracularations at 13X-Day, intercut with songs and collages from DEVO, The Rudy Schwartz Project, Fernandinande LeMur, The Large, Heart Ignition, GoDrex. This especial Ask Dr. Hal show is M.C.ed by Dr. Philo Drummond himself, the First OverMan, chosen tool and principal spokesyetinsyn for J. R. "Bob" Dobbs on this Xistless Version 3 Earth plane.

Hour of Slack #1267 - World of Drills (Live July 25 '10)

Thu, 2010/07/29 - 8:50pm

Half live show from July 25 with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in, half collages plus one of our favorite moments from 13X-Day Drill: Pope David Lee Black's rant over the Sunday night jam band (6 Fisted Tails of Connie). Collages are by LeMur, The Large, Mr. Rection and Heart Ignition. Subjects covered in live portion: Oil Drill Spills as weapons; dentist drills; X-Day Drills; the Abortion of J. R. "Bob" Dobbs; "Bob" knows pickin'; "Bob" as a Nut Job; goats; ear hairs. Finally, a Phineas Narco "Bob" song.

Hour of Slack #1266 - 13X-Day Special with Dr. Hal, Philo Drummond & Pisces live

Tue, 2010/07/20 - 11:42pm

Four live Hours of Slack were recorded at the stage during the 13X-Day Drill, along with three Ask Dr. Hal sessions, five bands and a dozen preachers. The bulk of this episode is the first of the outdoor Hours of Slack, recorded July 1 with Rev. Stang, Dr. Hal, Priestess Pisces and Dr. Philo Drummond. Interspersed with that are impromptu songs by 6-Fisted Tails of Connie (the X-Day Drill jam band) and collages by Lemur, Sweetness McGee and the returned maestro, Heart Ignition. We also hear some clips from the Shanghai Devival, first big SubGenius show in Asia. Praise Pater Nostril for making the 13X-Day recordings. (Jam-band musicians include Rev. Angry Larry (The Amino Acids), Dr. Sinister, Dr. Philo Drummond (The Swinging Love Corpses), Rev. Phil, Rev. Suds Pshaw (Munky Hyv), Priestess Pisces, Rev. Bunny Day, Senator Speck, DJ Shaver and others.)

Hour of Slack #1265 - Rev. Susie the Floozie's Post-X-Day Special

Thu, 2010/07/15 - 9:21pm

We returned from 13X-Day Drill (and Starwood Festival, which followed on its heels) with so many hours of great recordings that merely the labeling alone will take a week. Meanwhile, to buy ourselves more editing time, we present one last X-Day related rerun, a classic episode of Rev. Susie the Floozie's "Bob's" Slacktime Fun House from WREK Atlanta, her Post-X-Day Special. It's heartbreaking -- heartbreakingly good. Next week will begin a series of Hours of Slack combining "live" shows we did with Dr. Hal, Philo Drummond and many others, and crazed new bands and ranters, all recorded at the 13X-Day stage, Starwood and environs.

Hour of Slack #1264 - Ultimate Old-School X-DAY Special - Rerun of #534 (1996)

Sun, 2010/06/27 - 6:28pm
Normal 0 0 1 121 691 Purker's Packston Parking, Pnk. 5 1 848 10.2006 0 0 0  We are now off-world (or about to be), and refuse to produce new shows. Instead, we present a beloved oldie. And we are presenting it two weeks early, as we will be either on the Saucers or at Starwood, and won't want to mess with posting shows then. Back in 1996, just before the very first X-Day Drill at Brushwood, I, Stang, assembled this ultimate X-Day collage, song and rant special, utilizing the best UFO-related clips from our old Media Barrage albums (from the 1980s!) as well as the finest new stuff of the time, such as Nenslo's X-Day anthem and Papa Joe Mama's first X-Day sermon. You'll hear the infant voices of Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, all the Churchly old-timers beck when they were mere 30-somethings and even 20-somethings. It is a trip back in time -- and yet, a trip into a BRAVE BRAVE FUTURE!

Hour of Slack #1263 - Asteroid 2002MM- X-DAY - Rerun of #844 (2002)

We are now off-planet (or about to be, or might as well be), and cannot be bothered to produce new shows. Instead, a week early, so we don't have to mess with it during X-Day Week, we present a favorite oldie. Half of this is from the great Pre-5X-Day tomfoolerly on the WCSB-Cleveland show, Chas Smith's ESO Swamp Radio show of 6-28-02, some of which takes place after X-Day, aboard the saucers. The rest is a good general cross-section of everything that was happening with our favorite contributors and fellow SubGenius shows at the time. More about X-Day

Hour of Slack #1262 - Rerun of #895 - X-Day Special

Tue, 2010/06/22 - 1:48pm
A great rerun, #895 from just before the 6X-Day Drill, 2003. Includes many real oldies from the Media Barrage tapes of the 1980s, mixed with tracks from the 2002 X-Day Drill, choice moments from ESO Swamp Radio, and Susie the Floozie's amazing "Armageddon" collage. Also: a Stangian music collage of End o' the World songs of yore, and two original Chas Smith songs -- also Lonesome Cowboy Dave's "SubGenius Anthem" and Pope Black's sermon from Euro-X-Day 2002. And then there are the other 35 or 40 tracks. More about X-Day: http://www.subgenius.com/bigfist/fun/devivals/13XDay/13X-Day.html

Hour of Slack #1261 - Live 6-13-2010 - SubGenius Church News

Tue, 2010/06/15 - 8:47pm
We start with some particularly mind-bending collages and three "killer" (heh heh) end-of-the-world songs by J. Coulton, C.O.G. and Saint N. The brainworm "Snot Mouth Tweedle" by The Rudy Schwartz Project is played at the end, with an incredible cut-up by GoDrex. The rest is rather hyper live yakking by Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Stang and Wei, covering the usual several hundred subjects, including X-Day, the documentary GOD'S CARTOONIST, the Starwood Festival and its new date and location, the death of the biosphere, and an important announcement regarding The StangDoe SubGenius Employment Agency.

Hour of Slack #1260 - Barnyard in Orbit Meets the Waltz of the Mortgage Bankers

Wed, 2010/06/09 - 9:56pm
This is one of those Hours of Slack that has a lot of cuts, most very short, but with a couple of meaty ones, those being a classic Papa Joe Mama sermon and an intense musical collage by The Large (performng under the name Schranz Ferdinand). There's some recent Puzzling Evidence, ranting from last X-Day Drill, music by Wilhelm Stahlhelm, Sivet Stang, Parker and Stone, Jonathan Coulton, and out old pal Joe Newman of The Rudy Schwartz Project. Spiced with clips from LeMur, The Large and the soundtrack of Edgar G. Ulmer's THE BLACK CAT (1934).

Hour of Slack #1259 - How to Take a Leak (Oil Volcano Special)

Wed, 2010/06/02 - 3:40pm
For our first live show in over a month, we plunged head first into BP's Gulf oil eruption, and came out very slick and smelly. If you have a truly sick and depraved sense of humor, this episode will make you feel much better about the ongoing ecocatastrophe. If you are "well adjusted" by normal standards, it will make you feel much, much worse. The show starts with the appropriate collages and music, but then Lonesome Cowboy Dave calls in. Between Dave and Stang, the death of the oceans becomes an idiot's playpen of SubGenius end of the world pornography. Think LIFE AFTER PEOPLE but with a laugh track. HOUR OF SLACK doesn't actually have a laugh track, but you can think that anyway.

Hour of Slack #1258 - X-Day as Discussed On Other Radio Shows

Tue, 2010/06/01 - 1:08pm
X-Day XIII is coming up -- Lucky 13. Since X-Day Drill #12 in 2009, your host and prayer partner has been collecting and setting aside all the parts of OTHER folks' shows when X-Day is being discussed. Includes: Stang on the British podcast RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE SITTING NOW and Jack Jett's show on Rational Radio in Dallas; Rev. Susie the Floozie's "Bob's" Slacktime Fun House with Puzzling Evidence as a guest; The Puzzling Evidence Show with Dr. Hal, Phineas Narco and Dr. Philo Drummond; there's also a poem by Nenslo, read by Dr. Hal at 12X-Day. The real killer however is Papa Joe Mama's sermon from the 2002 (or 2003?) devival in Hamburg, Germany, entitled, "Five Minutes To Midnight"! Also featured are frequent caller Bernard, The Crazy Numbers Guy, and Paula Dupree, the Ape Woman. Actually it is her mad doctor, John Carradine, doing the talking. Paula herself did not speak until the second Ape Woman movie.

Hour of Slack #1257 - SubSermons & Hymns New and Old (old from #371, 1992)

Fri, 2010/05/21 - 3:37pm

This episode mixes parts of an oldie (#371 from 1992, which is not yet in the ancient show archive) with new bits and a great Papa Joe Mama devival sermon from 2002. New is a Psycho Skeletons song, "Racist Lesbians on Drugs," and some LeMur and Mr. Rection. From 1992 comes more God-killing music by The Rudy Schwartz Project as well as Churchly bands The Swinging Love Corpses and The Klingons/Cloaking Device (from Germany), and Indian Rope Burn. Stang reads shocking cult news and some rants from REVELATION X (in progress at that time) with background music by Jay Cotton/ZomboFropLand. Vintage Puzzling Evidence, Dr. Philo Drummond and Dr. Hal are also represented.
