I was greatly today saddened to hear of the passing of Ann Richards. Texas has lost one its icons and heroes. Ann and her hair and everything about her was legendary and larger than life. I am a very cynical person and it's not often I have a kind word to say about a Texas politician but Richards was special. I've never forgotten the time my father and I met Governor Richards near 7th and Congress back in the early 90s. We had just had lunch and Ann was on her way to the same place. She was so friendly and took time to chat with us for a few minutes. Rest In Peace, Ann.
